Results here are current as of October 2026. Formats and venues change often, so each entry notes the year it describes.

World Pool Championship

The WPA World Nine-ball Championship was first held 3 to 7 March 1990 in Bergheim, Germany, and won by Earl Strickland. It is usually annual, but was not held in 2008 and 2009 or in 2020. The men's field has been 128 players since 2001. Matchroom promotes it as the top event of its World Nineball Tour.

  • Latest edition: 2025, in Jeddah (21 to 26 July), with a $1,000,000 prize fund. Carlo Biado of the Philippines beat Fedor Gorst 15 to 13 for his second world title after 2017.
  • 2026: we found no 2026 edition in any source we reviewed. In April 2026 Matchroom and the Saudi federation agreed not to continue hosting, and the World Nineball Tour has announced Bahrain for 5 to 10 April 2027.

US Open Pool Championship

The US Open began in 1976 with 16 players and was won by Mike Sigel. Promoter Barry Behrman ran it for decades, mostly in Norfolk and later Chesapeake, Virginia; his family sold it to Matchroom in 2018. It is played as nine-ball, and the champion receives the Barry Behrman US Open Trophy. Earl Strickland and Shane Van Boening share the record with five titles each.

  • 2026: the 49th edition, held 25 to 30 August in Frisco, Texas, with 256 players and a $500,000 fund. Francisco Sánchez Ruiz of Spain beat Robbie Capito 13 to 12 for his second title after 2022.
  • 2026 format: double elimination (race to 9 on the winners' side, 8 on the one-loss side), then single elimination from the last 64 at race to 10, semi-finals to 11 and a final to 13.
  • 2025: Aloysius Yapp of Singapore beat Fedor Gorst 13 to 11.

Mosconi Cup

An annual nine-ball team contest between the USA and Europe, named after Willie Mosconi. It was first held in 1994 in Romford, England, where the USA won 16 to 12. Each team has five players plus a captain and vice captain, the schedule mixes team, doubles and singles matches, and the first team to 11 match wins takes the Cup. In 2025, matches were races to 5 with alternate breaks.

  • 2025: Europe beat the USA 11 to 3 at Alexandra Palace, London. Sources differ on whether that was Europe's 17th or 18th title. The USA's most recent win was in 2019 in Las Vegas.
  • 2026: scheduled for 27 to 30 November at Caribe Royale, Orlando, Florida. The top three ranked players on each side qualify automatically and two wildcards complete each team. Johan Ruijsink captains Team USA.

World Cup of Pool

A nine-ball doubles event for national teams, started by Matchroom in 2006 in Newport, Wales. It is single elimination, usually with 32 two-player teams, played as scotch doubles with alternating breaks. The most recent edition listed is 2023 in Lugo, Spain, won by the Philippines (James Aranas and Johann Chua) over Germany. No later edition is listed, and Matchroom has not publicly explained the pause.

Derby City Classic

Founded by Greg Sullivan of Diamond Billiards, the Derby City Classic is held every January, now at Horseshoe Southern Indiana. Sources disagree on its first year (1997 or 1999). Its three main disciplines are bank pool, one-pocket and nine-ball, and the "Master of the Table" title goes to the best all-around performer. Divisions use a buyback format, so eliminated players can pay to re-enter.

  • 2026: Joshua Filler won nine-ball (his third in a row), Shane Van Boening won one-pocket and Master of the Table, and Justin Hall won bank pool. Van Boening now has ten career Derby City titles; Efren Reyes, who won the first all-around title, holds thirteen.

UK Open

A World Nineball Tour nine-ball event whose roll of honor begins in 2022. The 2026 edition ran 26 to 31 May at the Brentwood Centre in Essex. Joshua Filler won it, beating Wojciech Szewczyk 13 to 1, his second UK Open title. Earlier winners: Filler (2022), Eklent Kaci (2023), Robbie Capito (2024) and Aloysius Yapp (2025).

Reyes Cup

A five-a-side nine-ball team event named after Efren Reyes, Team Asia against a rest-of-the-world side, first to 11 points. It began in 2024. Team Asia won in 2024 and 2025; the Rest of the World won the 2026 edition 11 to 4 in Manila (15 to 18 October), captained by Ralf Souquet, with Francisco Sánchez Ruiz as most valuable player.

World Snooker Championship

First held in 1927 and won by Joe Davis, it has been played at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield every year since 1977; 2026 was the 50th straight year there. A 2029 edition is planned elsewhere during Crucible renovations. The main draw is 32 players: the top 16 seeds plus 16 qualifiers. It is one of snooker's Triple Crown events with the UK Championship and the Masters. Stephen Hendry and Ronnie O'Sullivan share the modern-era record of seven titles.

  • 2026: Wu Yize of China beat Shaun Murphy 18 to 17 in the final. Matches ran from best of 19 frames in round one to best of 35 in the final, and the winner received £500,000.
  • 2025: Zhao Xintong of China beat Mark Williams 18 to 12.

UMB World Three-cushion Championship

The carom world championship was first held in 1928 in Reims, France. Raymond Ceulemans of Belgium holds the record with 21 world titles.

  • 2026: held 23 to 27 September in Blois, France. Eddy Merckx of Belgium beat Bao Phuong Vinh 50 to 39 for his third world title.
  • Recent champions: Bao Phuong Vinh (2023), Cho Myung-woo (2024), Frédéric Caudron (2025).
